Hi Everyone,
Has anyone ever heard of a T/A 4 speed with different springs on the left and right side? For some reason My car (which is a numbers matcheing T/A) has 6 springs leaves on the Driver side and 8 leaves (6 full and two halves) on the Passenger side.
Any information would be helpfull. Thanks

These could be the S/S springs. I'm not so sure if the stock springs were biased. Theres more springs on one side than the other to keep the car straight on a luanch.

I am not sure about T/A springs either. If they are S/S springs they should have a part # stamped on the front edge of one of the leaves and a longer than stock front hanger.

s/s springs? What are they?? They do have part numbers on them. The Drivers side is 3690266 and the passenger side is 3690265

S/S are super stock drag race springs. Thats is not any S/S spring part # I know of. They may be stock ones. I did some looking and the T/A cars had more leafs on one side than the other. I could not find any part # for them though.

I think BB and 3406pack cars did. not to sure about 340 4 bbls. Don't think S/6 or 318 car would have.

Hi
T/A and AAR used the same rear leaf spring on either side 4-speed or automatic the Chrysler part number was 3579511 These springs are unique to these cars only and where specially arched to give more lift, one reason was to help with clearance of the low hanging dual reverse flow mufflers and side exit exhaust tips

Can you tell me how the 3579511 spring differs from the 3400048? a couple of resto guys tell me the 3400048 is the correct part number.

As far as I know, the HEMI, cars had the 6 on one side. 7 on the otherside. Otherwise, to the best of my knowledge, the cars came with 6 on each side. This I know from my car, a '73, 340/4spd.
I never heard a different arch for the muffler issue on the AAR-T/A cars.

The 3400048 is the Chrysler production number or casting # on the spring the actual part # is 3579511

HI,
Thank you for clearing that up. Is there any chance you have a set for sale? If not do you have any idea what they're worth?
Thanks

Not sure that is entirely correct, i am pretty sure only the Hemi and 6Pack got unequal springs, with the 7 being on the RHS. Maybe 383,440 got the 6 leaves as mandatory but the LA engine models and Slant 6 in the 70-71 had only 4 leaves. I have two Challengers, a 71 318 Slapstik H code and a 73 Rallye 340 4 speed and both only have 4 leaves -and this includes the half leaf at the bottom. My 340 Rallye has the rear anti sway bar. I'm sure the Tow packs and HD rear suspension package had more springs though. Here is a picture of a Hemi Refernece resto, the leaves on the LHS
