Here's a few pics of our cars.
The red 71 is a cuda clone built from a Gran Coupe. Leather interior, 4-speed, 340, shaker hood, louvers and rallyes (again).
The 73 is my wife's Cuda clone. Limelight, 5.9 liter, A518 OD trans, cruise, recessed side markers, gilled fenders, bumpers tucked in.
The cars in the last pic are my unrestored, real 71 Cuda (on top) and 70 Barracuda (on bottom). The 71 is a factory hemi orange, 340, auto on the column with bench seat. The 70 is a new project that I've been collecting the parts to build an all black 440 car. Will have flat black paint, flat black hockey stick stripes, black bumpers, black wheels, lowered 2 inches and on and on.

Now it has a race prepped 360 with aluminum heads, street strip trans and convertor, superstock springs and a 3:55 sure grip. I plan to put a six pack setup on it before summer gets here.
I promised myself when I bought the Superbird that I would stop buying toys. Didn't work. :D

farmboy70 (http://www.forebodiesonly.com/forum/member.php?u=1179), you like burnt orange? I do, fine lookin' rides.
Most may recognize my latest purchase. It came from the gentleman a few posts up from this one. I like the shot with the dog cause it shows the tread. The lady at DMV hooked me up with appropriate plates.
I'm gonna repaint the motor & engine bay here pretty soon & the go wing's going in for black paint. Also putting a set of eye brow spoilers' on.

Original 340 N96 4speed heater delete car. After 7years apart I finally got it back together! I'm happy for now... oh yeah, replaced the original train train with a complete Hemi drive train. Just one of the many stories I have with this rebuild. After the initial breaking in of the Hydraulic Comp Cam, I noticed the engine didn't sound too healthy. Tried tuning for a few miles but still wasn't sure why it felt "sick"... Finally adjusted the valves for the last time and found out that some tappets were making alot of unusual noises. Pulled a tappet out for an inspection and found it was grounded to the core...That was it! A newly rebuilt engine shot! Like an insane madman on a mission, I had no other choice but to pull that 850lb. of metal right back out and re-do what took me a couple of months in 1 week. Again, that's one story. Now that the cars is running awesome, I have no regrets! BTW here's some pics. Njoy...

it is the factory combo & I fought with redoing it factory instead of just going black . There is nothing on the car to accent the Bronze so to me it looks wierd but at this point it is the only known Challlenger with this color combo so I redid it the way it was built & yes there was some of the bronze paint on the car still when I stripped it .

Real BS-H code Cuda. 4-speed A/C disk brake car. Paid the equivalent of $400 for it but it was missing the drivetrain and a tree crushed the rear half. Had to do lots of metal work on it to get it to this point. Running and rolling.
Hope to get it running for my wife to drive one day, since Cudas are girls cars.

I posted earlier in this thread right after I bought this car. Since then I've repainted the rear spoiler in it's correct shade & added front eye brow spoilers. I also cleaned up motor room, painted engine, new aluminum valve covers. Removed all the A/C stuff.
I did a hokey job repainting the power booster. Plans are to buy another one & take it across the river for Booster Dewey to rebuild & replace the wiper motor.

Well here are my girls...
2011 Challenger SRT with 392 Hemi
The Pictures of the 'Cuda are all the same car. 1971 440-6. I am currently restoring the old girl. This is a real BS23 'Cuda FC7 plum crazy/inviolet car. When I bought the car, it was blue. I painted it gray 20 years ago and now I am having the car repainted back to it true purple. I am building the 440 engine into a 512 stroker and keeping the six pack set up.
Enjoy...

The turquoise one is the doner car for the other two.
The brown on is a 72 318 car that I just traded to a friend.
The gy9 car is the one I'm fixing up for my daughter. Its extremely rough but it has a VERY early production date.
It had scheduled production date of 7/19/1971 and vin of 100096.
The other car is a lime green 1970 340/auto that I plan on restoring someday unless I get discouraged and sell it.

This car begs the question, how much of a car do you need to replace before its a different car? Even though the vin, cowl and fender tag say one thing, once you replace most of the sheetmetal is it really "restoring" a car? Or, is it building a car? I've owned a lot of cars over the years and seen some pretty bad cars "restored". This challenger for example, The only original sheetmetal will be the roof, firewall, and inner fenders. Possibly the doors. I have better doors but want to use the originals on principal. Its not that this car in particular is anything special, thats why I am putting it together and not caring about changing the color, putting a 512 in it and giving it to my daughter to drive to high school in. If it were a big block R/T then I would have reservations about even saving it. In my mind once a car gets bad enough, its dead. Restoring it is really just making a "tribute" car that happens to have a desirable vin. The car that it was is gone. The restored cars that were basket cases are still beautiful cars and I appreciate all the hard work, time, and money that went into them. Especially before they were worth so much damn money, those were truly labors of love.
Just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions
That's an often discussed question and you're correct a lot of people with a lot of different opinions. My project is the opposite all the original sheet metal is good and staying. The drive train, actually everything from the radiator to the gas tanks is from a 2007. So would that still be considered a restored car?
I will post pics tonight.

That is a hard one for sure. I had an 02 F-250 diesel that was totaled out. Body and bed were junk but the frame and drivetrain were all good. So I got a 99 F-250 V10 I was going to take the cab and bed off of and put on the 02. Well then it was like errrrrrrrr??????? What will it be? It will have all the 99 V10 vins but will be a 02 diesel. Never did go through with it so did not have to decide. But ya it can bend the mind thinking about it LOL
TinCuda

I feel like if it was once a great car it is always a great car. Restored or not. Their is a guy at work that drives a 1970 brown small v8 challenger every day. It is a pile rust, but everyday he drives it in. There is so much metal missing the I can almost see him through the door. My point is that he has a great car.
I work in aviation and according to the FAA, in order to call something NOT built, it only is required to have one original part. If one original part is used, it is considered repaired and not "built". Just food for though.

I agree with you to a degree. I've seen so many low mileage never wrecked, never driven cars and they do nothing for me. I like cars that have a history, cars that were somebodies pride and joy once upon a time. A slightly worn survivor has so much more character than an over-restored trailer queen. On the other hand if I were to come across a basket case Daytona or something like that I would buy it and rebuild it, just so I could have a Daytona. Even though it looks like a Daytona, is titled as a Daytona, and runs like a Daytona it still wouldnt be the same as a restored survivor to me. These cars all of us build were rare even when they were new and now 40 years later most are either restored and in people like Jay Lenos collection or crushed so anything we can find and save is important even if they were rebuilt from almost nothing. I still respect the car even though most of it has been replaced because thats one more on the road. Hell, I'm building one like that now, a rusted out challenger just because it has a title and an interesting (to me) vin and production date and sacrificing a near perfect one that can only get a state id for it.
I enjoy all types of cars stock, modified. I guess I fall into the category of customized. Mostly because as a young guy that's what we did to our cars. There where no easy to find repo parts, nobody restored a car to original. The grass roots of the hobby started with the custom hobby and back yard weekend racers.
I really don't care what parts have been changed as long as it's not the vin.

I get that a lot from my Dart. Take it to a show and people are all over it. She needs paint in a bad way and the engine is GASP black, goig back to boy color when I paint it hough. She has scare on the fire wall from the trans coming apart a some point beore I got it. I did not get why people liked it so much. I park next to some very nice cars at shows and she still gets a lot of looks. I ask people what they like about it and most say it has character and they can tell how much pride I have in her.
Even got a ribbon at the last Fall Fling. No juding for the Fall Fling they just give out few ribbons to cars that stand out to them. I was shocked and more than a little proud that day.

Here are my 2 E bodies and my LX Challenger. The Cuda (actually a Barracuda) is completely disassembled and is being built into a road racer/AAR clone complete with a 416 stroker, rear 4 link, Firm Feel front suspension, 4spd and many many other "improvements". The 70 Challenger is a real 440 AT RT California AC axle package car that I built as I would have back in the "day" (six pack, braided lines, etc). My 2010 RT is my daily driver and has a cold air system, lowered, painted stock wheels and pistol grip. I also have a 70 Roadrunner that will recieve my 66 426 Hemi as well as a 01 Viper GTS ACR in addition to a number of other cars. The Cuda is taking all of my time and money currently as I am trying to get it ready for the this summer as they are opening a new road course near by. It will be lime green to match a 70 AAR I had back in 86. The 70 challenger was built similar to my 74 Challenger I had back in 79-82.

Here is a before and after pic of my 70 Challenger. I really need to go back through it and clean up some "issues", but the Cuda is sucking up all of my free time.

BTW the Kevko pan is awesome, however it will not fit a stock K frame, I am replacing it with thier "stock" fitment pan so I can get the steering to actually work. It pays to actually read the website.... Thier pans are exceptionally well built, gated and perfect for a road or drag racer, not to mention cheap. The pan in the picture with the pickup (7 gts) was about $360 with shipping. Thier stock fitment pan and pickup (holds 6 gts) is about $240 with shipping. I highly recommend them. They use a factory pan and modify it so it fits well and is very durable.

Here is one of the latest pictures that I have of my 'Cuda. The front is setting a little high due to my engine is not in it yet, but you get the idea. We just got it out of the paint shop.
Oh, and yes, the rear window speakers will be coming out. LOL

This is my motor. Just built my 440 six pack into a 512 stroker.
Oh, and another disclaimer, That Fram oil filter is just acting as a dust cover. I plan on running WIX filters.

That is over the top. What carbs are you running? Are they out of the box? Nice car, nice looking engine build.

I am using six pack 2300 series Holley float carbs. Thanks for the complaint on the car. I will be putting on white billboards soon. I will post more pictures when I am done.
