That info on shoulder belts on Convertables is incorrect NTSB required that shoulder belts be mandatory on all cars. Shoulder belts on Convertables were secured to the transmission hump like the lap belts. In fact there was an option for shoulder belts in the rear seat.

Price both mods out. If you want a fresh setup rebuilding the trans, buying a new converter and doing the mods to make it work I think you’ll find to be more $$
