So, I spent several hours installing and removing the linkage and making “adjustments” each time. I think I’m down to the last tweak. The “front bar,” that attaches to the transmission is now just a little too long. The rest of the movement is quite smooth now that I have it all aligned with...
Can't get the torque shaft to clear our hooker headers unless the bracket that bolts to the block is turned upside down. Then the alignment where the bracket bolts to the frame member is all wrong. When the transmission was overhauled, 30 plus years ago, the linkage was cobbled together...
Thanks for everyone's inputs. The motor is running again. We figure one of two things happened. A) while messing around under the dash (isn't that fun?) we inadvertently disconnected something that we couldn't see, or B) when we backfed the +12 volts to the negative side of the coil we caused a...
Moving from diagram to diagram isn't really the problem. The problem comes in when a wire go from inside (or outside) the engine bay or passenger compartment. Understand, I did this same job, basically, for 20+ years in the military except, of course, on aircraft. I'll give you a for instance...
We are working on a 1970 Challenger w/small block if that matters. Non-ralleye dash. We would like some more male connectors that will plug into the orange triple female connector for the dash lighting. The standard insulated ones you can get anywhere are too small. Does anyone know where...
1970 Challenger w/small block is what we are working on. We THINK we fixed it but have to reassemble the car again to test it out.
Basically we were wondering if there was a better wiring diagram that could be purchased. And if so, where from? The factory one leaves a bit to be desired as it...
So... this project of ours seems like it's turning into a lifetime project. Not really, but it has been 5 years now. We live 1000 miles apart and I only get here a couple times a year. I know we haven't posted anything but I have been lurking the whole time.
The car is back together. All the...
As someone who was around and old enough back at that time, MOST of us didn't use seatbelts, and the manufacturers knew it. Those slots simply made the storage neater. Frequently seatbelts were removed just because they were in the way and unsightly.
I had some good luck with evanswiring.com. I was asked some questions about the car and what was stock and what we were changing. An excellent under hood harness showed up. Just my two cents.
FWIW, I put a 2.76 in our '70 318 way back in the early 80's. The car originally had 3.23. I went from 18 mpg (only when I was attempting to get all I could out of a gallon) to 20 using those same throttle/driving inputs.
Need some suggestions here. Trying to locate a good supplier of chrome trim. Specifically we need new stuff for the wheel wells and the rear quarter panel inverted sort of "L" got flattened many years ago. Progress report. All of the suspension is now off. Leaf springs were a piece of cake...
