I would certainly check all of the VIN numbers on the car with the VIN on the tag. Radiator support, cowl, deck lid rail, etc. that should tell you if the car is complete or has been pieced together. Either way it's going to be a nice driver!
Good luck!
Not so! The collapsibility of the column stays in tact when you use the Borgeson joint as prescribed. The cut is made below the teflon pins and keeps the safety feature of the column shaft in tact. It only takes about 3 inches off of the shaft end.
I would in no way recommend altering any...
I understand, sometimes the fab work can be the hardest. You are on the right track though.
If you will measure back on the original steering shaft you will cut that joint completely out leaving the round portion of the shaft that will be an exact fit to the Borgeson coupler.

I used a Borgeson unit on my challenger and it's a very easy installation if you bought the joint!
Simply set your column in place through the firewall and with the joint attached to the Borgeson gear, match it up and mark your shaft. Cut the shaft to the proper length for the new connecting...
I was thinking that the last one I added had a template molded into the rear of the door panelwhere the control mounts.
Don't forget to use the backing clip as well!
Mine had been hacked out like that when I got it! I had to get a new one from AMD and replace it. Fortunately I had to replace the floor pan too so it wasn't that big of deal!
I used Accurate Exhaust complete OE correct system on my Challenger. Exact fit complete with oe correct numbers on mufflers and resonators. Shipped right to the shop ready to install. Very happy with the results.
Hagerty is my 1st choice because of their roadside assistance feature, but I know several people that use Grundy with no problems and they are a little cheaper.
Definitely Anco! 521 Restorations have OEM replacements at a good price.

It never hurts to dissemble and inspect with new seals and gaskets.
Brewer's Performance might be able to help you with that if you give them a call. They are all about 4-speeds and manual drivetrains and are very accommodating to work with. I will link their website below.

I used the coupler supplied by Borgeso, part number #036425, and it worked perfect. I had to measure the shaft length and cut it off. The coupler slid right over the shaft and secures with the set screws, no problem.
Accurate Exhaust for exact OEM original. Compete system from manifolds thru rear valance, including SS tips is around $1200.
A perfect fit on my Challenger!
