Looking at getting another E body, has a 340 and I am wondering just how much HP I can get out of it. I want as much as possible but still be able to drive it and keep as much of a stock look as possible.

Any ideas?

Off the top of my head, 300-600 horsepower. But define "......drive it and keep as much of a stock look as possible." Also, automatic, manual, gears, vacuum assisted anything?

I have a 340 with factory iron intake, iron heads, and exhaust manifolds. What isn't factory is the .030 over bore and a mild hyd comp cams 222/226 duration at 050. 326 HP on dyno with more tuning to do yet.

I have a 73 Challenger that came with a 340. I also wanted to keep the block size but increase HP. Mine bored to .04 over, 4.00” crank, Hyd roller lifters, Edelbrock Al heads and intake. Dyno on machine at 430+ HP and 490 Ft-Lbs. Did not run over 5000 RPM during test. Engine is in the car now but restoration is not complete. I have more specs if you need anything. The engine was built by Vintage hot rods in Chico CA. He specializes in Nitro methane Bonneville cars but liked working on a small block for a change. Picture attached.
