According my original 71 RT, that RT decal is not in the correct location. I have seen Chrysler drawings for the decal location and it is not that close to front hood edge. My 71 also did not have the RT fender emblems.

Thanks for the clarification. The poster of the pic presented this as the "correct" location for the decal.

Not to belabor the point.
It looks like the decal on the 71 photo was placed post factory and or placed incorrectly.

Found a picture of the actual 71 Challenger brochure.
Looks like correct placement was lower then pictured in the old photo.
Factory was probably sloppy with placement back in the day but:
