How if the F#*^ do you get the springs into the holes on the headlight bracket?

I have the headlight bracket sitting on my workbench with nothing on it and I am trying to attach the springs first before I put the actual headlight buckets on the brackets and before I bolt that entire assembly onto the car. I just don't see how the springs will ever go into those tiny holes without heating up the spring and bending the end of of it or something . . .

There is supposed to be a phillips screw in the bottom of the spring.. try a #6 or #8 screw.
