71 RT 340 TX9 with V6J stripes. Back from hiding.

What was the color of that other car? Was it black?

71 RT 340 TX9 with V6J stripes. Back from hiding.

Build sheet is only a few shreds left, which was under the passenger seat. No others found. All body and motor/ trans #s checked out. I went off the fender tag which is original to the car. I was very happy with the outcome. None of that was known when I bought it and I had different build ideas...

71 RT 340 TX9 with V6J stripes. Back from hiding.

Thank you Gary, It took a while until I was ready for them but they look great. Glad that you were able to help me out. I appreciate it! I'm going to post more pics when I get the time to finish. Should be real soon.

71 RT 340 TX9 with V6J stripes. Back from hiding.

I had posted it when I first got it. It was autumn bronze when the previous owner bought it in 74 and stayed that color until I researched it and changed it to the OEM colors. Not sure why it was ever repainted that early in its life but it wasn't wrecked because it was sanded to bare metal and...

How much power loss can happen with air filter restriction?

Get a filter with a top plate. Edelbrock has them and it should be enough for the big block. It's amazing how much air they can gulp. I had a foam triangle type once, and that motor sucked the whole thing right thru it. Gone!

    Cleaning panels

Try wipe new pads. Won't stay that way forever but it should look a lot better.

    Heater core

The aftermarket ones usually won't work right out of the box. I had to grind the ends to fit the box and re drill a hole but that's what you get these days.

71 RT 340 TX9 with V6J stripes. Back from hiding.

After working the bugs out and a few break in miles, I finally got the stripe kit out and got 1 side done. Going to do the other side tomorrow and get more pics outside. Been a 4 year battle with this one but, I'm loving it.

    Hagerty or Grundy??

Nice. I have state farm for my dailys. I'm going to check them out then. Before them, I had nationwide and they would have insured it but wanted a fortune to cover collision. I didn't even think about asking state farm when I switched the dailys.

    Hagerty or Grundy??

Grundy has my Challenger rt @ 65k for 418$ a year. My barracuda is at 35k 310$ a year. Haggerty was over 1100$. I have no accident record or points, of course. Call them both and get quotes, but my bet is on Grundy.

    Slow voltage drain. Any suggestions?

It does have the rally dash with clock but it's not working currently. It could be the culprit. I am going to test like sixpack mentioned and hopefully find something. It was a brand new 1045 amp battery so I was kinda shocked to see it was completely dead in three months. My charger srt has...

    Slow voltage drain. Any suggestions?

Forgot to add that I also hooked up the original wire from the firewall along with the 8 gauge going to the battery. Thx

    Slow voltage drain. Any suggestions?

My 71 R/T 340 4 speed has been up and running since November last year and has been sitting for a few months over the winter. I went to start it the other day and the battery was dead. It was a new 1045 amp Napa one. I threw a little charge in it and it fired up. I have a Mopar 110 amp 1 wire...

WTB 150mph speedometer 71 challenger rt

I finally got to go for a ride after a long restoration and the speedometer was growling and bouncing around, even with a new cable installed and the needle broke off. I imagine someone could repair it but I'm not sure if I could do it myself. I really don't want to spend 400$ for a new one...

    Been a while.

Thanks man. I got your vapor separator installed in there and was very nice after blasting. Turned out, I actually put the clutch in backwards somehow. I am totally shocked but can't deny it. Even after checking 2x. Ashamed for that. I got very lucky and barely skimmed the flywheel nuts. No...

    Been a while.

A good wet sand and buff, stripe kit, and new clutch will exceed my expectations. Set it up for a repo stereo but of course, they aren't making that anymore. Called custom stereo, and all the repo places. Guess a glove box type is all I can do.

    Been a while.

Since I have been on the site but thank everyone that helped me with replies. Every car build is different and this was a phenomenal task for me. I got the motor broke in with the single valve springs and built an exhaust to exit near it for the break in. All went well, then swapped the old...

    Break in scheduled 08-20-23

Got the challenger back in February, this year and have all but completely reassembled it since. Doors, glass, fenders, trim, vinyl top, brakes, rear, motor, trans electric, etc. Down to priming, antifreeze and fuel. Got sick last week and went to the doctor. He said I have Mopar sickness and I...

I want to be sure! 71 challenger rt

Thanks again for the quick and direct info. It had been a while since I took everything apart. Most was labeled except the coil and now my wiring is officially complete. I went with msd controller, distributor and coil to limit the rpms and that system works well. A few more parts to install and...
