If I'm in second gear and I let off the throttle and an not holding the shifter back the trans will pop into neutral.

So this all started with run-on and wide open throttle issues. Didn't have a timing light to start with so I was retarding the timing in small increments and then running and driving the car. Results were going in a good direction. Got a timing light and found out it was at about 8* AFTER TDC...
Just noticed that my electronic conversion distributor has a 3/32" allen head inside the vacuum advance port. Feels like it can be turned both ways. So what does this do? Any advantages with adjusting this, that is if it truly is adjustable? Thanks.................
I've got a carbed 440 with the electronic ignition conversion and it likes to run-on. It starts and runs good, i don't have the ability to check or set it properly at this time so I've been retarding timing (turning distributor CC) in micro movements, maybe 6 or 8 degrees so far with no good...
