Engine/Trans swap into my 72 Challenger

There were many 318's with the 727, had a 1985 Ram 318 with 727 as well as a 68 Polara with a 318 and 727. They are more common than you think. You will need a 727 that was behind a big block, 383, 400, 440,etc; mostly bolt in with right engine mounts, did this to my Challenger many years ago...

    Difference between a 1971 383 2 brrl and a 383 hp?

HP stamp means nothing, all blocks are the same.

    Difference between a 1971 383 2 brrl and a 383 hp?

Camshaft, valve springs, carburetor(4bbl), intake, exhaust manifolds. These are the main differences.

    5.7, 6.1, 6.4 Hemi interchange selection guide

    Bolts on, no problem.

    K memeber difference?

Definitely a difference between 6 and 8, V8 does not mount to 6 cylinder K frame; one exception though if you purchase Schumaker mounts the V8 will bolt onto the 6 cylinder K frame, probably cheapest and easiest way to go.

Switched to passenger side housing on my Challenger with no problems, was still able to time it.

    440 Buildup

I would also install double roller timing chain, at the very least on heads go with 2.14 intake and 1.84 exhaust, bronze guides, hemi springs(my preference, aftermarket heads); rebulding old heads will be almost same price as a set of Edelbrock heads which breathe at least 30% more than 906's...
