I've been waiting to see this boat up close. Up until last weekend I've just peered through a window looking at this thing under a cover. It has been completely restored and resides at the Packard Proving Grounds where I attended thier open house on Sunday.
It's powered by 4 Packard V12 engines, 2 forward facing and 2 rear facing with gearboxes transferring power to the props at that point. The cubic inches total 10,000 and they make 8,000 horsepower! That thing must have sounded like an amazing mechanical symphony!

I grew up riding in this one. It belonged to my aunt. She no longer has it. It has been restored and is still in Indiana. The way the wooden boats were built and sealed together is true workmanship.

Didn't rain a drop for the 3 hours we were there plus I knew Johnny Trudell was going to be set up inside and who doesn't like a little jazz with thier Packards???

I personally love the old deco, 30's and 40's real wood boats.
Even a less exotic one as this would still be a very expensive proposition restored today!
