    Tapping noise when on load

Can't really hear it if not in gear. Once in gwar it's there all the time on acceleration. If I stop accelerating the noise will ease/disappear.

    Tapping noise when on load

True, didn't think about that. I'll put it on the ramp and check next week.

    Tapping noise when on load

Had no chance to test the exhaust. Trying to remove the ends to apply pressure and see if I can hear something. Engine itself seems to be very quiet to be honest, been around with an stethoscope and couldn't hear anything unusual. No idea how many miles but hasn't been touched in decades.

    Tapping noise when on load

Hi all, just double checking suggestions about this tapping noise very loud when the car is in gear. Here's the video: Engine is a 318, probably tired and some white smoke coming from the exhaust. I checked the lifters and it seems to be all good. Can it be valves? If it was a tad easier...

    Timing mark almost 180° off?

MOPARLEO, thank you so much for you detailed post. Yes, I'm in the UK and parts aren't really a problem, the money on the other hand... I can easily order from Rockauto, which I believe is the life saver for us in the UK but the shipping costs are a killer. I ordered a hub seal the other day...

    Timing mark almost 180° off?

I mean.... it should be here, not on the other side right?

    Timing mark almost 180° off?

Hi all, I'm trying to figure something out here, car never run great and I decided to check the timing (73 challenger 318 standard). For what I remember the timing mark are on the driver side, kind of pointing towards the battery. Well, this car has no timing reference on the block but the mark...

    Paint blisters

Yes, it is. That or nothing. If I remove the cover car becomes a swamp. I don't know what's worse really... it will be warmer again soon! This cover is plastic on top and has a soft lining under. Before that car had just a plastic one for less than a week. I'm thinking patina is the way to go...

    Paint blisters

What happened is that the previous owner has decided to paint the car himself but apparently the compressor wasn't powerful enough. Car never received a proper finish and it's almost 100% "orange peel" like. Looking at old photos i couldn't notice any repair or damage in those areas. I doesn't...

    Paint blisters

Thank you, I totally agree. Don't think a "simple" respray will do the job. I'll have to go for full restoration at some point. Does it worth sanding that and applying some rust preventer for the time being?

    Paint blisters

My little lady is suffering! Is there anything I can do to prevent it getting worse apart from full respray? Blisters weren't there a couple of months ago and the cracks are spreading as well... 😢
