Hi, my 1st post! Staring to decide what direction to go on several things on my 70 Barracude, 35K original car. Not sure if it is common on these, but surprised on such a low mileage car the door panel paint is or has worn off or something. Not sure because of the originality of the car if I should paint/dye them? I have some experience on dash pads on other cars, so confident I could do a good job and not lose the grain. Just not sure if I should leave everything original?? Opinions??

PS- The dash pad is perfect, nothing wrong there.

They are almost fifty years old. When you're that old you'll have faded some too.

Completely normal. Depends on how much UV the car has been exposed to. If the rest of the car is going to be restored I'd be tempted to have them dyed/painted but they don't look terrible. If the car is being kept as a survivor, leave them be.

Looks like the door panels were replaced.
They should be black and not have any paint or dye on them from the factory.
Leave them be if they are the actual originals and just suffering from uv fade.
Is the rest of the car in original paint?

If they’re not falling apart and just faded, if it were mine I’d paint them. I did mine but you have to use the right products and prep them properly. Probably all the plastic so it all matches.

I used their green. It was much lighter then what I had on my Challenger. I went to the paint supplier and had them mix the color.

Thanks for all the input. I'll decide later after I get it up and running, not sure what direction I'm going with the car. FYI, 90% original paint, only the passenger door was painted at some time. Thx again!

You are right. I'll leave them alone for know until I decide where I want to go with the car.

I forgot to mention, the interior color is dark green. Thanks for the feedback!

Possibly in the fall. I'm going to get it running and cleaned up, maybe enjoy it for the summer. Thx.
