Ammeter to Voltmeter

I am restoring a 1973 Rallye Challenger and purchased a new wiring harness through American Autowire. The harness does not support an ammeter and they suggested that I have the gauge converted to a voltmeter.

Does anyone know of a gauge shop that can convert my ammeter to a voltmeter? Or have any other suggestions?

Thanks. I don't have a problem with the electrical system because the new harness did away with the ammeter wiring. The article you attached was very enlightening and I am always in search of knowledge for this type of thing. I read another article that said that the fuel gauge is the same as a voltmeter if I can take the face off of the ammeter that could work. I think I will practice with my old gauges first. Thanks again.
