I was digging through my parts today, and at some point I will have to make the choice of which to use. My Challenger is a 1973, but I bought a complete Rallye dash from a 1970. I now have switches for both the variable speed, and 3 speed. I believe that the motor will work for either, but is there on preference as to which is better in operation.

I changed mine to variable mainly because I don’t like the looks of the 2 speed motor and I’m dead serious.

I believe the 3 speed motor will work with either. It is a dumb design, variable speed, who needs the wiper going that slow across the windshield.
I have variable speed and only use the faster speed. Anything else is useless.

I have a 1971 with the standard variable speed switch. It goes to slow which is the first click and then it goes variable.
Is the wiring the same for both switches? I do not know.
The variable in mine gives no problems but 98% of the time use the wipers on slow speed.
I have only used them rarely on the faster speeds.
