i'm getting ready to cut up the floor on my 70 challenger for a Tremec 5 speed (from SST) install. I have placed the included 4 speed tunnel where it seems to naturally sit. As i looked closer, i noticed the new tunnel will be really really close to the gas pedal. with carpet and padding i'm concerned it will impeded my foot. does this sound right or am i missing something? any photos of your bare floor pans showing the 4 speed tunnel for reference?

Thanks for the feedback.

It is closer in a 4 spd car. You can probably adjust the pedal over a little, or bend it a bit. My factory 4spd tunnel is about 1-1/2 away from the pedal, I just went out and measured it, but with carpet and padding in place. Make sure the pedal is all the way up when you measure, and that it will go all the way down, un-impeded. When I put my Trecmec trans in, it fit just right, and the trans barely touched the tunnel on the right/pass side. I put a pry bar up there and gave it some clearance.... so, I suggest you have the trans in place, before you tack weld in the tunnel. This way you can be certain the shifter stub is centered in the opening, and you can massage any areas that need clearance. Don’t forget the console brackets, if applicable. And be careful not to cut the brace under the floor, where the two rows of spotwelds are..

Mine was an auto car , tunnel was super tight to the pedal too. I rounded the plastic on the pedal to match the tunnel. Works fine as well
