1970 Challenger. There are four sets of holes/cutouts towards the inner rear edge of my trunk lid. I have found some pics of two (black) plates bolted in these positions. What are they for please?

All the trunk lids used in 1970 had the holes. If they were unused by the factory they were left open like in the pic above.

My original 71 came with the spoiler holes. I have seen several other original 71's with them also.

My late October build 1970 Challenger lacked the T/A spoiler holes.
This pic is from an August 26th 1969 Challenger (thank u cataclysm80)
and is identical to my October 6th SPD except mine is missing the large hole on the bottom rt side for the luggage rack.
My lid also lacks the two small slots/small holes on each side for the wing spoiler brackets.
Looks like there were many variations of holes in the Challenger trunk lids. From the evidence I have seen, The T/A spoiler holes stayed until about the end of the 71 model year/early 72 and were gone pretty much for the 1972's on.

Thanks for sharing your picture
Your trunk lid has the luggage rack holes in the outer circles that mine does not have.
Interesting, since your car is less then 2-3 weeks later then mine. My SPD was October 6th, but my car still has original date coded parts into the 3rd week of October. It keeps looking like trunk lids installed were option specific?
