Acquaintance wants to buy my June 1971 340 block. Want to give him a good fair price but looking at ebay, the bottom was $500.00 and the top was a Grand. Block is 30 over. New cam bearings and freeze plugs. No crank but have the main journal caps.
I am wondering if $650.00 is fair? Thoughts from some of you folks that routinely buy and sell
on line is appreciated.

340 blocks are thin. If it has been run at .030 then it has less value. .040 may be a stretch to get if the bore is bad. Go to a machine shop to get it checked for size. If it will make a .040 then 500 to 650 is fair.

Never run at all after the block prep was done. Pickled in oil. I went to Iraq. Fresh .030 over cylinders. Thinking I am going half in at $575.00.
Thanks for the response. Think he gets a fare deal. I free up badly needed shop space for the 440 work.
