340 takes a long time to start

I'd double-check that. I am pretty sure that it is a Carter AVS, if I remember right I think that the number is 3933 or 3934 depending on auto or manual.

340 takes a long time to start

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I put the inline electric pump in the other day. Picked one up from NAPA and put it in, and got the switch under the dash. Now all I have to do is prime the carb for 2-3 seconds, pump the pedal twice and it fires off right away. Works great now.

Thanks. Can I run it online with the other? Series? Or does it need its own line?

340 takes a long time to start

I thought about the electrical fuel pump, but I want to keep the car as close to stock as possible. Where would it be evaporating from? Isn't the fuel bowl a closed system?

340 takes a long time to start

Hi everyone. This forum has been a great place and has helped me out a ton. I have another stumper for everyone. I have a 1970 340, which takes a long time to start. Every day, the Carberator bowl is empty. I had it running yesterday, but today it was completely empty again. I do not smell...

    WTB 340 TA Block/Engine Needed!!!

Yes. Eventually I will. I bought two project cars from the original owner. One was a ta the other an Aar. They were sister cars. Exactly the same options, paint, interior, etc. He sold the drivetran back in the 80s and doesn’t know what happened to them. He thinks that he sold them to a...

Hi Mike, I know that you want to save your TA engines for the original owner, but I was wondering if you would mind selling one to me anyway? Thanks, Joe

    WTB 340 TA Block/Engine Needed!!!

I had to do some digging but the last three numbers are 557 and 610. Let me know if any of those match. I’m in Minnesota, but would be happy to figure something out for shipping or come get them. I really appreciate this. They are two really cool cars that I want to get back on the road...

    WTB 340 TA Block/Engine Needed!!!

That is the main question, isn't it. I guess that I would be open to conversation about it. It seems that finding one is the hardest thing. Don't have much to compare it do.

    Headlamps Installation

Hi, Does anyone have a diagram or pictures of how the front headlights go together on a 1970 Cuda? I need to know how the buckets, adjustment screws, and trim go together. I thought that I took a picture of it, but I must not have. Do they have a left and a right? It is just a two lamp...

    WTB 340 TA Block/Engine Needed!!!

Hi, I have a 1970 Challenger TA that I bought a while ago, and I have been looking for an engine for a while. It is such a cool car and I want to make sure that I bring it back to as close to original as possible. I don't want to use a crate engine in it, I would feel that I am breaking some...

    Hood to Cowl Seal

I know that there have been a few posts and questions on this topic, but none has seemed to help me fully. I read too late to buy one of the seals with the clips already on it, but I have one that does not, and am trying to get it installed. I read about how to install them, but I am more of a...

    Heater Control Cables

Thanks Adam, will these work for a 1970 cuda?

    Heater Control Cables

Hi, I’ve looked all over the place for the three cables that control the heater box. I can’t seem to find them anywhere. Someone suggested Roseville, but they don’t carry them anymore.

    Filling Bowl on a 1970 340 engine

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to fill the carb bowl on a 1970 340? I just got the engine back into the car, and I want to make sure that it runs. I am working on new fuel lines; I want to make sure I had everything correct unless I have to pull it back out. A picture would be...

    Windshield Trim

Hi, I am having the hardest time trying to figure out how the bottom trim of the windshield attaches. I have tried looking up some pictures, but they are all covered by they hood. I was wondering if anyone had a good picture of that. I am also trying to figure out how far down the vinyl top...
