Hello everyone, I just discovered this forum. My brother and I are in the process of building a 1970 Cuda drag car.

I am looking for a way to convert the front to coil overs from the torsion bars while running the stock K member. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I will post some pics soon.

Nice car, have you considered the old alterkation swap? It will save you some weight too. Is your car going to be street/strip, or race only?

It is race only but I have to have the factory K-member in the class I am going to run (I am allowed to strengthen it). I am allowed to swap to coil over springs from the torsion bar and I need this for header clearance. I am running a street type 10.5" tire heads up class, running off of a 5.90 (1/8th mile) index.

I would run a front roll bar from the firewall down the frame rail near the bumper mount over the top of the shock mount , then you can tie the top of the coilover onto the roll bar so you have enough stiffness to support the top of the shocks

Thanks, after seeing the pic of the coil over from the link provided, I was thinking something along these lines.

Would appreciate some photos of how the 4-link ties to the chassis and if you wouldn't mind, some measurements so I know where to locate. I am trying to fit 29x18.5x15 tires under my cuda. I am going to have the axle tubes cut to fit them under the car and not stick out. I haven't ordered the rims yet. Only know that I will be running a 14" wide rim with the backspacing yet to be determined. I love the look of yours. And then throw a Maurice Petty engine on top of that? Damn! Should be very fun to drive. Thanks a bunch!

Run the snout bars through the firewall and to the down bars of the roll bar in side the car to tie it all together. Snout bars are also a good place to run a motor plate.

No Problem. I will be loading the car up Thursday to take to the paint shop so I should be able to get some great pics underneath. I will also try and get all the measurements I can. I am running a 12" wide rim with a 10.5" tire now and as you can see, there is plenty of room left.

I have that Maurice Petty engine complete, fresh, ready to install. I also second Maurice Petty engine that needs to be freshened up. I cannot wait until I get the motor in the car and go down the track.

I was unable to get pics and measurements tonight. By the time I picked up the car it was dark. I will try again tomorrow.

What is you email. I have some pics, but they seem to be too large to load on the forum.
