Our '70 Challenger project came with a later hood. It has D O D G E on the front rather than the Dodge emblem like a '70 should have. Correct??

Do the '72-74 hoods fit a '70 okay? this is just a flat hood.

Did a google search and seen 70's with the Dodge letters. I guess it depended on which hood it had?

The real difference is on the underside of the hood. In safety testing they found that the early hoods when involved in a straight on collision would act like a guillotine and not fold and collapse possibly causing a lot more injuries than if the hood could be made to fold and collapse. They fixed this by adding crumple zones to the under side of the hood. The top of the hoods are the same 71-74.

in 70 the flat hood & shaker hood used the tri star on the front & the Dodge letters on the Ralley hood , I believe in 71 they did not use the Dodge letters on the Rally hood but used them again on 72-74 , not sure on the 71 shaker .
Any hood will bolt on any year although the bolt sizes were smaller in 70 as well which could present a problem using 70 hinges , the hood release was different , in 70 , 71 & 72-74
