Hi everyone. I have an original slant 6 car and now it has a 318. I’m trying to make it as though it was a 318 car to begin with. Can someone send me some pictures of the engine compartment and engine. It looks like the wrong radiator, wrong air cleaner, and other jacked things along the way I want to fix. Also, if someone has some pictures of linkage for on the column shift. It has an aftermarket on the floor with headers I’m doing away with and going back to manifolds. Thanks everyone.

Introduce yourself in the new members "Welcome Wagon." Also look through the different Forum listings for information.

The first to links are for free downloads, the third is the restorers "Bible" so to speak with pictures, diagrams and detailed info for factory correct restorations.

Parts Manuals – MyMopar
Service Manuals – MyMopar
MMC Detroit

Car shows are also a good resource.

If you can, please post pictures of your car and what you are saying is wrong here. Folks here can pick it apart and tell you what they see as wrong.

Why not leave the 318 and dress it to look like a 340 car?

Interesting thought….340 car huh? I’m looking to make it look as much as stock as possible. Take a look at the messy wiring on the fenders, the radiator can’t be right because it was drilled through to attach it…so many little things that irritate me. I know it will never be perfect I just don’t want it to look so hack. I want to go back to the column shifter too but I need to get the linkage for it. I guess I’m looking for ideas and where to find some of the stuff I need. Thanks to Moparleo for the books and stuff. Great place to start.

Mine was originally a A66 340 car. Original drive train was long gone. So, I built it as a 528" Hemi car.

For a 318. Probably a Holley 650 or an Edelbrock 1406.

Here are a few photos of my engine bay. I'm the original owner. A couple of things that are "wrong," or different than original:

1) The anti-freeze sticker is placed incorrectly - should be more toward the driver's side
2) The wiper motor and blower motors are painted silver rather than electroplated
3) The orange box (electronic ignition was an add-on)
4) There are some fender washers that are stainless rather than painted
5) The radiator cap
6) The radiator overflow tank (there was none - overflow just drained to the street)
7) The wheel alignment access covers are black instead of body color
8) The engine blue is more "Ford" blue than the original Chrysler "turquoise" blue. (The oil fill cap has the original paint.)
9) The alternator has a double belt pulley instead of single
10) The Battery Minder
11) The battery isn't original but the tray and hold-down are correct
12) The heater hose bracket is black rather than body color

When we re-did the car in 1999, the intent was to improve it as a daily driver, and not to restore it to original

HTH, and good luck!!

Super cool car! That V02 is a sweet option! With one of the best colors for the v02 as well.
Thanks for the descriptions!!
