Carrier to housing nuts

Wondering if it would be good to replace the carrier to axle housing factory nuts with the nylock type nuts. Factory didn't use lock washers, just tightened down to 45. ft lbs and I guess that's all that's needed. The nuts are pretty thick and probably have a lot of holding strength compared to a regular type nuts.

As long as the nuts are hardened. No hard ware store fasteners . The factory nuts were normally dimpled so they were self locking.
