Hey guys,

i removed the side glas of my passenger door on my 70s Challenger recently.
Cat whiskers, stabilizer guides and so on are all removed.

Today i tried to remove the inner glas mechanics but i had some trouble to get that done.
The complete mechanic lies loose in the door but i cant imagine how the window crank shaft could fit in the door slot..there is not enough clearance to get that task done?!
Is there some magic iam missing?

I moved the mechanic in all directions but there is no way for me to get that thing through..
Either the shaft or the spring will get stuck in the door.
Can i disassemble it a little bit more?

thanks guys

its been awhile since I did this but in your picture the crank shaft is against the door, and the spring is against the reinforcing bar. I think if you lift the mechanism up, slide it to the front of the door then you can tilt it enough to get the arms out through the hole in the door then the rest will follow.
i'll look in my 70 service manual and double check I haven't given you the wrong info
have you tried to find a service manual online?

Oh, wait wait wait...
I think i might have done an embarassing mistake...
I thought the mechanic comes through the upper slot where the glas comes out.
I havent use force while trying and that could be my luck now.
Does that mean i have to remove it through the "service" opening in the bottom part of the door?

I have a digital service manual but i only used it for removing the glas.

Sebastian, yes do what 704406 said. The mechanism will come out through the large side opening near the bottom of the door. It's like a puzzle.

Hey everyone,

thank you for the help - the mechanic finally went out ;)

The stabilizer for the crank shaft is pretty much worn. Due to that it gets really really wonky...
Has anyone ever taken care of that problem?

Up.
Any ideas regarding the loose shaft?
All the theeth on the regulator are fine but that shaft is really bad.
Is buying a new regulator the last option for me? :(
Are the AMD ones any good?

I found you have to crank the mechanism to a certain position then it comes out the large hole. More trial and error than anything. The original mopar manuals tell you how to install the window mechanisms, which you reverse engineer to remove them. I hate reading the manual, but it works.
