Does the fender tag on a 1970 Challenger RT always denote either V68 stripe delete or the presence of a V6 Longitudinal stripe or V9 transverse aka bumblebee stripe? Said another way if none of these codes are on a tag, is it likely a fake?

A 70 RT can have the side moulding code and not have a stripe code. For example, V5X is the side moulding in black. You can have that code with none of the 3 codes you mentioned and the car still be a RT. You will always have a V code side body code of some sort on the tag.

It could be a fake if a V stripe code is not on the fender tag which is listed near the end of the codes (top row of fender tag). This V code is not to be confused with a vinyl top (V1#) code or convertible top (V3#) code). I agree with challenger6pak that an RT will always have some sort of a "V##" code for the stripe, whether it be stripe delete, longitudinal (tape or paint or molding) stripe, or transverse (bumble bee) stripe.

Also, the V2# codes should not be confused with stripe codes as these codes are for hood treatment.
