Hey guys, a friend of mine had a buddy that sold his shop and has been calling me to come get this challenger. So I ask how much? Guy say free. Free? Sounds to good to be true right. Wrong! So I send a flat bed to recover the free challenger, tow it to my house. To my surprise there is a mostly there 70 or 71 challenger, no fender tag or dash vin plate but has original radiator support and appear to be a plumb crazy auto air car? To my surprise there's a broadcast sheet that's in pretty rough shape but the vin is fairly clear and the cowl #s are clear as well. Any of you well educated mopar guys wanna save me hours of research and tell me what I have? broadcast vin is JH23L1b119611 cowl numbers are B1 119611 Drivers seat is gone most the dash is there, engine is missing but for the most part its complete. all the glass, regulators, mlds around the windshield and back glass are perfect. taillights are nice. grille is rough. as is the rt fender and rust is minimal for this kinda car. I'm obviously gonna need to lien sale it to obtain a tittle, but it would be nice to know what I've got.
my understanding is it was a donor car for another project,

1971 383 2 bbl. car. You may be able to get a reproduction VIN tag once you have a title. It will depend on the rules of your state. Some states issue a new replacement VIN. Post some pics of the car.

You can go to this link and fill out the '70 build sheet with your 71 numbers. It will not be 100% accurate, but it will give you a good idea. You can send a pic of your sheet to Cody to help build a 71 build sheet decoder. The link for that is at the bottom of the decoder page. Here is a link to the page.

That's a great looking car for FREE !!
It'll cost ya a little time and money to get that title and vin sorted out but it looks like the car is well worth it!
Having that build sheet will make a big difference in the fate of that car. You can get a fender tag reproduced from the build sheet. Otherwise you would never know what the car was and it would end up a promod or race car.
What state are you in?

Ca I run a body shop so I’m fairly proficient at lien selling but I guess my concern is that the vin and fender tag may have been used to register a different vehicle who knows this one has what matters and that’s the oem stamping. I really didn’t need a project this big in my life as I just finished a 40k resto on my 72 I’ve had since I was 19 years old 56 now. These cars just cost 2xs more than your avg classic car to restore While you do get 2xs the cool factor it still adds up.
And again thanks to the MOPAR maniacs for the help i.d. Ing the thing. Big block plumb crazy who could ask for more except a sublime hemi

Good score. I was able to save my 70' Road Runner the same way. I stopped and asked what they were going to do with it and he told me to hook a chain to my truck and take it away. Yes, for free also... still have it. Project #4 on the list.

Right on! I'm still shaking with excitement and dread all at the same time. The o.g. purple big block I've always desired, baam in my back yard.
