I recently made a trade for a set of aluminum Indy 440-1 heads and was looking for opinions on using them on a 440 stroker, possibly a 500.

I was looking at building a 500 stroker and just not sure if i should use these or swap out for a Edlebrock kit or 440 source stealth heads.

The Indy heads are by far the better choice , especcially on large CI stroker build .
The eddy RPM & the 440 Source are more budget minded heads with the 440 Source heads being far better value .
We used the eddy RPM heads on a customers 440 , I had ported the 452 Iron heads on it & we swapped to ported eddys & gained 3 RWHP on the same dyno ,that was about the most expensive 3 HP gained ever

Thats great info, thanks.

Looking at going with a hydraulic roller cam and fuel inject it, aiming for a streetable 550hp.

Nice , I love EFI , I prefer the multiport fi , I used an Accufab 1200 CFM T Body & the predrilled Eddy victor intake with 80 lb injectors , on a 440 & made over 700 hp & completely streetable , using a solid roller cam.

Nice, i come from the LT1 engines from 93-97 and LS world so these Mopars are a tad different.

Understood , the newer LS engines use a lot of the tech developed for the 440 back in the late 50s with the deep skirt block & cross bolt mains etc .
Using a 512 kit in a 440 block still retains a very long rod ratio & gives a very flat power curve from 2200 up into the 5600-6000 range

Maybe a 512 would be the way to go, I'm looking to try and keep compression close to 10.0 just so i can run it on pump 91 without issue.

I have probably built 2 dozen 440 / 512 using the 440 source parts , you can increase the compression slighly higher as long as you have good quench where the piston is within .050 of the head with a closed chamber head .
