so finally started work on my 73 my dad gave me for my birthday, the gf decided she wasn't happy after 3 years and left (dont ask).. so i have some free time and will keep my self busy.

its a numbers matching 340 4 speed 73 cuda, front and rear sway, power steering, brakes, 150 speedo, pistol grip, 3.55 posi 8 3/4

my direction is a 73 style aar clone. the 340 is already rebuilt very healthy. dad rebuild it in early 90s and less then 1000 miles on it.

I'm going fiberglass bumpers tucked in tight, fiberglass fenders, trunk lid, hemi orange paint, 3 inch exhaust, headers wrapped, sheet metal valve covers, 2 step rev limiter, lazer cut sub frames,

already bought the subframe connectors, bumpers and....a brand new aar bolt on fiberglass hood for 75 bucks.

i got the hood installed for mock up and fits well and i got the valences and bumpers off. Hopefully this week ill strip the fenders, hood off, interior and get the redo on a roll. here is pics im starting with

here is pics off fiberglass hood on, car with bumpers off, and pic of back bumper i'm gonna put on probably tonight. hopefully have the gas tank, fuel lines, rear sway and shocks off as well.

also through my searching over the car i see it needs a trunk, rear 1/4s and the back frame rails are a bit rusty. I like nice clean solid stuff. So I think i am gonna put to full rear rails in. rather do it now why its all apart rather then have them go bad 2 or 3 years down the road when its car is all done. Plus i know i can do it because i just put rear rails and a trunk in a customers 70 charger and come out nice.

actually yes i do, i have alot
ill list what i have done follow by pics. I have changed both rear frame rails, welded subframe connectors in, welded trunk floor in, made my own rear upper shock brace, seam sealed frame and trunk, stripped interior, mocked up fiberglass bumpers, cut drivers 1/4 off along with the outer wheel house, put new wheel house and trunk extension in and got 1.4 welded on. also took nose off the car and found a set of fiberglass fenders, got drivers side roughly mocked up, I made a set of hemi valve covers fit over my 340 covers, made a air cleaner set up from cookie pan and will seal to the hood. Ill let the pictures show the progress

Lookin' good!

How'd you feel about finding the 'glass front fenders?

Gonna find some boots to run the wires through on the valve covers?

well didn't find fenders for free but i got a good deal the set. I couldn't turn down so even if they need work its not a big deal, which they do need some tweaking but o well. and the valve covers i'm gonna find boots for them, i have a set off an import car that are close but i might go with original set of 354 boots.

as for the cookie pan, flat aluminum is a bit of money and i couldn't roll an edge so i used a free cookie pan, lol. Once i make some front supports and cut the aar hood open will work well i think, something different to look at.

Love the cookie pan trick! I just put an AAR hood on my car and I don`t have an air cleaner either, maybe I`ll use a muffin tin and try to fool everyone into thinking it`s got a six-pac setup!:D

Nice work on your restoration wish I could put as much time/effort into mine.

yea, for the foam i got it from summit for like 14 bucks, its flame retardent. Just find a old base to a 4 barrel and pop rivet it to the cookie pan and cut the hole out.

Hey bro i got a 73 and i gotta rip out and weld in new rear frame rails on mine also. I dig the shock mount/ crossmember. Should stiffen it up a bit. Any advice for me to make my life easier? Only about a foot of rail is gone on mine from the rear shackle mount forward. Trying to decide if i should just cut out the bad cancer or replace the whole rail.
