Hey everyone! Long time Mopar fan but new to owning and going hands-on with Classics. I had a 70 Barracuda Gran Coupe in high school and miss it dearly. That was my last classic until last year.

I’ve been working on a 70 Swinger for 8 months and found FABO members as a great resource and the members are a wealth of knowledge.

I have a 2015 Challenger SRT 392, which was designed after the looks of the 71 Challenger. Two days ago I picked up a 71 Challenger as kind of an ancestor and garage mate for the 2015.

I am hoping FEBO will be my great resource for knowledge and parts as I begin this new project.

Welcome and nice. The 71 Challenger looks pretty clean. What exactly is it? It has a "Starsky and Hutch" motif going on there with that paint job :)

It’s raining so I’ll have to wait to photo and start digging into the Challenger. Here are my other toys.

I asked the seller if it was a Starsky & Hutch car too!

It’s not numbers matching so it won’t be the full stress bank account breaking resto. Thank goodness. It’s a 318 car which had a 440 transplant sometime prior to 1995. The owner was injured in 2003 and the car has been parked in his garage since. It was his baby but he finally decided to part ways. I still have to learn all of its secrets, but I plan on going through the brakes, steering, suspension, electrical, drivetrain, and body/paint. The metal that I could access for inspection all seemed good or reasonable except where the corners of the package tray and rear cowling meet. The interior was redun in the mid 90s and still looks good. I’ll make it a moderate street rod but I’ll preserve as much of the original car otherwise. I’ll be picking your brains and looking for parts from you guys!

The rain let up enough to take some exterior and interior shots of the car in order to document the condition it is (was) in when I bought it. My battery died before I could crawl under and take pics so those will come later. I see a few things that need attention, but I am always open to hearing constructive ideas from you guys.

You did the Challenger justice by loosing the ( first thing that came to mind) elongated "Starsky and Hutch" stripe. Your avatar if that be the same challenger looks great. Any up dated pictures? Post them in you profile easier to find.
