I recently had the opportunity to start playing with Mopars beginning with a 1971 Cuda that the shop I help out picked up and needed the car finished. In the process of working on this car I met a guy that had some parts laying around that he sold me relatively cheap. The parts consisted of a set of 80’s 318 heads and another set that was very interesting. The “good set” has a casting number that I believe to be a 70 340TA. The heads are 2.02 intakes and they have what look to be Titanium valve retainers. The heads were paired with an Edelbrock intake that’s really clean with no stripped holes and clean surfaces. The casting has an extra alpha character that I’m not sure what it means. Any help identifying the heads would be appreciated.
Thank You

Welcome to the site .
Bad news is the 340 J heads & the 340 T/A heads used the same casting , the difference was the position of the pushrod holes next to the intake port , yours are just std 340 heads .

So I guess the 2.02 valves were added by a shop performing the machine work. Thanks for your input I’m kinda lost with Mopar but I’m learning.

The most desirable heads of the era for sure , the best flowing heads are the 87-92 308 castings pre Magnum .
