Disclaimer, I am going to tell a little bit of a story here at the front. if your only interested in pictures skip down below.

Well guys and gals, Last night I was able to bring home one of my dream cars. An E body challenger! Ever since I watched Kowalski Haul across the US as a kid I wanted a Dodge Challenger. To me it encompasses a sportier side of the muscle car genera.

3 days ago a 1974 challenger popped up on craigslist. I called the guy and talked to him for a bit and decided to go look and see if it was really "Rust Free". I drove the 30 minutes and when I arrived and saw the car I couldn't believe how clean it was. The car was supposedly in a garage since 1983 (The year I was born, Its a sign!) The vinyl top doesn't even show any fading or wear!

It Has a Dana 60 rear and 4link setup with Strange axles. Also has an 8pt cage but I may ditch it to be able to run full front interior. Also it is mini tubbed in the rear.

I didn't have the money that night and I asked if he would hold it for me for $1,000. I got a swift "NO" so that night I listed my pontoon boat and luck have it, I sold it the next day. I swiftly went home and got the car hauler and headed to his house.

here it is on the trailer coming home forever =]

First off - welcome to FEBO. Nice score! Always happy to hear about someone getting a car they've always wanted. I'm going to second what Adam asked - what you are going to use for engine/transmission?

Honestly at this point it is undecided. I have a mildly built 360 and 904 sitting in a 74 scamp I bought just for the powertrain, I could drop it in and get this thing going in a couple of weekend. However I know it wouldn't stay long, so as bad as I want to drive this car I may hold off and just build the motor trans I want.

This is going to be a pro-touring'ish build so I am thinking a built 440 maybe a 516 stroker with a holley sniper EFI system on top with a 727 and full manual reverse pattern Valve Body.

I would love to do a gen iii hemi and 6 speed but I think that is well beyond my budget at this point.

My goal is a streetable touring car that can still run a road course and drop a mid 10 in the 1/4 mile. I am guessing I need to be in the 600hp range.

Awesome find - best of luck with the build. Build it right the first time with the power train you want. The rear already set up is an fantastic start.

I am having trouble deciding if I should cut the front part of the cage out or not. someone put a lot of nice work into it, However it sucks getting in and out and I would like to run full original interior at least in the front. sorry for the crappy picture.

I do like the idea of the rear bar in case of a rollover. since there is no interior in the back due to the mini tub, The rear gets to stay. the front and bars through the firewall will be getting pitched.

I'don't trim back the rear seat frame to fit around the mini tubs, so your interior is complete

It looks good. I am following your build with great interest, especially the EFI install.
