Wondering how to determine when my car was built by the scheduled production date . does anyone have or know where to get that information concerning scheduled prod dates ?
Ive been decoding some of the parts for the engine and it looks like this car ( 1970 cuda ) was a very early 70 model .
the sch. pro date on the fender tag is A12 .

Are you sure it is A12? Because that was a Sunday and I’m pretty sure no cars were scheduled to be built on a Sunday. Scheduled production dates aren’t necessarily when these cars were built though. If the car retains its original engine it likely has the original engine crossmember which should have a date code stamped on the front of it in the middle facing forward. That will be the date the engine was mounted to the crossmember.

here's a picture of the fender tag and i believe the A12 right before the vehicle order number is the scheduled pro. date unless i am reading it wrong .
I will go check the cross member .

had a little time to crawl under the car and look for a date code and did find this round coin welded to it .
Kind of interesting because it looks like it has a coin welded on top of another coin .
read on a few other sites that this was not uncommon .

The SPD and the actual build date can differ by several weeks, either early or late. Your October 12, 1969 SPD is almost mid-month for OCT so check your door VIN decal and see what it shows. It is likely 10-1969 but if it is 9-1969 or 11-1969 then that at least lets you know it was early or late. Exact build date info is being worked by at least one e-bodies.org member and he may be able to help narrow it down for you. His handle is 6bblgt.

Then you probably read enough to know that the 77 on the coin is the last 2 digits of the part number of the frame. That one being 3466477 which would have been for all v8’s in an E body except the Hemi. Early ones with a skid plate would have been found with 440’s.

Also the date stamp will be more towards the center on that same face. It’ll be 4 digit ending in 0 Or in your case 9 as it’s early.

Is there a door sticker ?

Is there a build sheet yet?

Those will help with the actual production date.

6bblgt has amazing information. I suggest joining ebodies.org.

Just some thoughts;
The 3466477 K frame number makes sense; it lists as an early 440 K frame w a skid plate with your A12 October 12th scheduled build date.
I have an early build A66 Challenger w an A06 (October 6th) build date; pic of my k frame date of 2939-1 which translates into October 20th, 1969 shift 1)
Your low order number 058387 is a little later than mine; 003743. The numbers make sense.
When I dissassembled my car, I recorded parts dates and found a date range from August 23rd (radiator) and K frame and radio speaker dates of October 20th. My differential still has the stenciled in yellow date of October 22nd. All other parts dates were between this one month time frame. I also know that my car was delivered to the customer from North Plainfield Dodge on November 17, 1969.
I enjoyed being a date code archeologist and I was able to piece together a time frame of my car's production schedule.
(Pic of my k frame date below) Keep in mind that K frames are one of the last things installed during production.

That is awesome to have found a car that has most if not all of it's original born with items. I bet that was very satisfying to form a list of the date codes for the car!

In my opinion, your car should have that kind of treatment. Plus records of that for fellow enthusiasts that will learn from your lists of date's.

Did I mention that your ride is an awesome piece of mopar history!
Awesome car!!

I enlarged the pic. That looks to be 10-1969 (1 with a zero with a line through the number) and should be correct for your A12 car!
