Shaker height to underside hood issue

OK, so I used a higher manifold than stock and had the carb pad milled down a little.

So my shaker is pretty tight to the underside of hood. When closing it snugges up about a 1inch to hood closing and when closed its tight.

Is the shaker supposed to be a loose fit or tight to seal out air between the hood and the shaker.

I have in the past cut down the shaker base on the carb side about 1/4" and it works out well.

Any advise.

Do a search here for "shaker hood install" and you'll see rubber seal on shaker and seals hood.

The seal is almost 1 3/4" tall as I recall so 1" is on the tight side but if it is not causing an issue I wouldn't worry

Thanks to all.
The shaker was installed before and alot looser to the underside of the hood.
After I installed the eddy Performer RPM manifold which is higher it seems alot tighter.

I can take 1/4 out of the shaker base if needed but would prefer not too.

As Neil states if not causing an issue maybe I will leave it alone.

Still did not like the fit so took 1/2" out of the bottom of the shaker base and it fits great.

All mocked up and ready for the welder.

Thanks to all.
