Hello, and thank you in advance. I just got my fresh 340 fired up. The carbs were professionally restored. I backed out the idle screw all the way started the car and it is idling at 2200-2300 rpm. I cannot get the idle to go down. I have the six pack book but its home and I am eager lol any suggestions.

Is the choke hooked up?
Carbs were professionally restored, sounds like the choke fast idle cam is engaged or hanging up, thats about the fast idle speed on the first step on the fast idle cam.
Check the choke linkage on the right side of the centre carb, make sure it's allowing the throttle to close all the way when the choke is all the way off.
Also check that the outboard carbs throttle linkage is adjusted so the throttles are closed at idle.
No vacuum leaks?
