Hello e buddies. Just pulled my vinyl top back at the bottom of the rear window. When I removed the molding it was installed with small plastic clips held down on small studs. There were several 1/4 inch size holes at the very bottom of the vinyl top just above the rear deck. They were not filled and that is why I pulled the vinyl top up. Water was leaking into the trunk to these holes.
I'm starting to think that these holes we're for the original Clips for the molding. My molding is 5/8" wide.
Any one out there have photos of what the original clips looked like.
The plastic ones that were installed on my car all broke when I removed the trim. Can't find any reference to these type of clips under any Mopar source. Thanks for sny help.

Thank you. So this is what would have been installed at the factory?
Doesn't seem like a good water tight seal.

I can't answer that , but that's what mine had. Who knows how many hands it passed through before me. I am sure someone on this forum can chime in.

Thanks again. Research seems to indicate there both metal clips with threaded studs like your picture and two different types of plastic clips used from the factory.

My 71 has the plastic clips on the small studs along the the dutchman panel with the the threaded stud type along the side sail panels. The threaded studs should have a rubber washer for the seal.

Hi, the two dodge cars that I've taken apart had this soft Potty like substance around the stud and hole, these cars were more than 40 years old and can't really tell what that soft substance started out as, but there was some sort of sealing compound at those locations, no kidding, it almost looks like plumbers putty.

Have a nice day,
Steve

Thanks for the replies.

I think I've pieced it together. Now I can order the right hardware and put it back together.
