I have looked into new springs, but the forum is all over the place regarding effectiveness of new springs. Some say nothing happens with new Mopar Performance springs. Some say it even lowers the car further. Maybe I can find a place to re-arch them. It needs to be up 1.5" more in the rear...
They are the non-adjustable units. They are also a PITA to install. Wrong width top and bottom requiring spacers not included with shocks. Just about ready to go to Gas-Adjust.
I recently installed QA1 shocks on the back of my '71 Challenger. I believe there is a problem with the length because there is less than 2 inches of compression travel left when installed. The advertised travel is over 8 inches. The car also rides really rough in the back. The QA1 shocks in...
I changed the underdash wire harness and was thrilled to see the clock was working. That was short lived when I also noticed that the time was not changing. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the hosed up clock cable or if it is internal to the clock.
I want to install these R/T stripes, but not in the wrong place. Does anyone have a measurement from top of stripe to door body line. I have looked at the engineering drawing for it, but cannot decipher it. "I'm a pharmacist, Jim. Not an engineer." Anyway, measurements for the door decal...
Thanks Challenger RTA. Always check the simplest things first. I now have the best running 340 in the county, and all I had to do is switch 6 and 8 to their proper orientation. Amazing what the correct firing order will do for an engine.😡
I just successfully broke in my newly rebuild 340, and it sounded great. After a few days of other tasks, I restarted it and got random, very loud exhaust pops from the right side. Alarming! Those "pops" disappear with increased rpm, but come back at idle. It is idling nicely other than...
My 71 R/T has a flip top cover but no fuel cap. I have looked everywhere to find a cap that works. Just a plain fuel cap. Anybody out there having the same issue? When I bought the car, it had a trashed locking cap with "753" on the top. I saw where some have used the "Stant 10571" locking...
I think I have found success. First, the polarity on the Wagner halogens was contrary to everything I had read until I did some more research. So I fixed that. Then I realized that the low beam relay was only passing 6 volts through it. A new relay fixed that. The only thing I see as an...
Here's the latest. I cleaned all the ground areas and reattached all the ground wires. Same thing - faint illumination of the high beams on low and dim low beam when high is activated. So I grounded all headlights to the battery and got the same result. Stumped. So is is the dimmer switch...
I did a headlight relay conversion on my 71 Challenger, and encountered some problems. Whane low beams are on, the high beam headlights have an ever so slight illumination. When the high beam is initiated by the dimmer switch, the highs (inside units) are very bright, but the lows (outside...
I looked around to see if this subject had been addressed before, but didn't find a satisfactory answer. The valve covers have a twist-in hole and a "knock-out" hole in each. I'm not too keen on putting another hole in one cover for a PCV valve. The twist-in holes have a baffle under them, so...
