Carpet Trimming under Console Question

So, was I supposed to run the carpet over the 4-speed bracket?

or

its supposed to be painted black?

or

I did it correctly?

You have a center console that will drop over the stick shift and mount to that bracket, correct? If so, you've done it right.

Thanks X. Just wondering cause with the console on, the yellow bracket does stand out under the console plate.

I’ve seen pix online of carpet going over that bracket. I didn’t do it because the carpet did not easily form over that bracket and would have been pretty big wrinkles to try and smooth out

Mine has the original carpet and it is similar to yours.
I trimmed a bit of carpet from under the back seat and tucked it in under the bracket to hide the yellow "popping out".
