Be sure to check the reluctor gap and the puckup coil in the distributor. This is a common and often overlooked problem area.

thanks everyone for your input. Replaced the coil and the problem is solved.
On to the next problem, outboard carbs throttle plates sticking slightly open

Well, fixed the sticking problem. The plates themselves had sharp burrs all the way around on both sides possibly from when they were stamped or maybe cut. The base plates had burrs where the throttle shafts went through.
You would think that new carbs would be finished better!

Congratulations and your car looks great! But are you done-done, seems like we always have something to do on them.

Really nice job on the Challenger. Must feel really good to have the car finished! A lot of work went in to making it look as good as it does. Time to start enjoying it.

Hi all

Just finished my first show, World of Wheels in Calgary Alberta.
Ended up bringing home 5 plaques and a little cash. Had a very good time, talked to a lot of great people.
Will be going to world of wheels in Edmonton this weekend.
