After finally getting to talk to Roger Johnson, he said the car he witnessed in 1969 was a Barracuda; not a Cuda. He wasn't sure what engine was in the Concept Car that he saw so we decided to continue the "what if" theme by going with an engine that was performance in nature but never actually offered in a Barracuda. We also are using a Tilt, Telescopic Steering Column which also never came in any E Body vehicle. Adding some unique features to the Car provides a flavor that is just as "odd" as actually building a Factory style 4 Door Barracuda.

These were taken about 20 minuets after the spraying was completed. Only 1 coat of paint was put on the roof because it will ultimately be covered with a black Vinyl Top. The rest of the car received 3 coats.

We finished the blackout treatment today but my camera battery gave out before I could get photos. Here are a few I got before it bit the dust. The paint has cured and has been lightly buffed. The finish turned out better than ANY OE vehicle we have restored to this point. Perfect "orange peel" texture and not a speck of dirt.
Below are pictures of it with all of the paper & masking removed. The Door frames are painted textured black and the next steps will include partial assembly followed by the installation of the black vinyl top. Things are about to start moving very quickly.

We plan on doing a few Magazine articles covering the build steps that were taken during the project and then debut it at the 2016 SEMA Show.

Here are a few additional pictures of the Door Frames & black out Over-spray. Keep in mind that the purpose was to mask the color on the top of the Cowl area so it could not be seen through the Hood Slots or around the Hood perimeter. We did not try to purposely try to make it messy but you can see where it went through the holes and hit the top of Firewall.
A few more of the custom weatherstrip and underside details. You cannot detect where we spliced the inner door felt/channeling together. It looks original. We also did not manipulate the underneath over spray like many restorers do. Steve sprayed the paint and black out just like a Chrysler Assembly Line Worker would have done. The pattern is natural and looks Factory correct.
Here are a few pics showing some different details. One shows the dip line in the inner fender well along with the bottom attachment points of the fenders. Notice the larger cut out openings where they bolt on. This is where we had to add some metal to extend them in order to fit properly. They look stock but will no longer fit a regular production 1970 Barracuda.
Thank you! Since it's a BH41, we decided to keep the unique theme going by using a power train that was not offered in the regular 2 door version. This concept is going to represent a vehicle that would have appealed to those who wanted extra passenger room along with a performance edge.

Thanks! Steve used a "large" Spray Gun with a vertical fan paint pattern.
This is going back a few months but I wanted to compare an original example with what we did. Keep in mind that much of the Seam Sealer in the original photo below, was weathered and chipped off after many years. The Factory was pretty liberal with with applying Sealer in this area because it was prone to moisture being captured there.

Here are a few photos from a couple of weeks ago. We had a Skype session with the Vinyl Top/Headliner Manufacturer to go over the custom features that will be required to make things fit. Like almost every other component on the car, they too will be a one of a kind design.
