Don’t just shop for crate engines. Find a really good machine shop in your area or within reasonable driving distance and have them give you an estimate based on your goals. “Crate Engine” is just a term people use. A crappy shop will build a crappy engine, no matter what term we use.

When guys mention lifter "problems" in general it does not really help anyone. Please specify if you have noisy hydraulic lifters or if you have a cam that has one or more flat lobes. Then it has flat lobes, was that during break-in or was running for years and then went flat.

This is likely a factory available over-the-counter block, which would be available for purchase or use for warranty repairs at the dealership. It should be no better and no worse than any other block that came as original equipment in a production car. But the best thing is, since it was not...

Borowski does make lifters, they sell lifters. They appear to be BAM lifters, according to the same description. BAM are available through Hughes engines but he is trying to get you into a flat cam...
