Check your distributor Vacuum advance. If the case has a hex look can it should be adjustable. Insert a 3/32 allen at the nipple and turn 1/4 to 1/2 counter clockwise. This may take care of the stumble/miss. Vacuum form carb should be on the ported nipple. Also check and tune idle mixture and...

Look for shoe dye. I found a perfect match for a red seat bottom. Small spray can. I was lucky and found a shoe repair shop that had a rack of different colors. I know shoe repair is a thing of the past.But maybe on line ?

You should be ok using the studs as I did on a 66 B-body BB last year. Yes they screw into the water jacket. Make sure your motormounts are in good shape so you don't have any clearance issues.
