    A833 2nd gear issue

I am using a non synthetic 80/90 and i've tried adjusting the first/second shift rod. Looks like it's gonna have to come out. Too bad, otherwise it runs smooth and quiet. Thanks guys.....

    A833 2nd gear issue

If I'm in second gear and I let off the throttle and an not holding the shifter back the trans will pop into neutral. This is the only gear that does this. The shift from first to second has a different feel to it compared to the shifting of all the other gears. Kind of hard to put language to...

    TIMING & RUN-ON

Interesting measurement, the gear on the distributor is pretty coarse, if that's what you meant, and there's a cylinder firing every 45 degrees. My head is starting to hurt. I think it's going to be a winter project/experiment.

    TIMING & RUN-ON

Gotcha, for now I'm just happy it's running great. I understand that there's a relationship between the keyway and the timing mark on the balancer, you wouldn't happen to know how many degrees that should be? Thanks again.........

    TIMING & RUN-ON

Pretty sure it's a false reading.....

    TIMING & RUN-ON

UPDATE....I through the spec book out the window and moved the timing to where the motor was happy. BOOM, no more run-on, starts great, no pops, knocks or back fires. And the car runs great. Just a little fine tuning with the vacuum advance and I'm done. I put a timing light on it and it's at...

    IS MY DISTRIBUTOR DEFECTIVE?

I think some more carb tuning is in order and if that doesn't yield the desired results the timing cover is coming off to check for a skip or what I suspect is an assembly error.

    IS MY DISTRIBUTOR DEFECTIVE?

Hey CGC; It's a 440, and I know rotation and firing order. Thanks, we're good. Just trying to sort out some strange timing issues, run-on and poor full throttle performance. I didn't build this motor so its pretty much a mystery.

    IS MY DISTRIBUTOR DEFECTIVE?

Got it to TDC and it looks like the rotor is in contact but slightly past center of #1. Does that make it a slip? Does a slip always go the same way? I understand that the valve train & ignition would be slightly ahead of the crank & pistons. Is there a performance benefit to this? Or, what kind...

    TIMING & RUN-ON

Good question, I hope someone can explain it because I sure can't. It almost seems to imply some stray voltage is running around. .
