I would check the initial timing. I have seen 440s with timing set to 2° that can't get out of their own way but when set between 10 and 16° will smoke the tires.

I have had intermittent problems with aftermarket ignition switches at the connector. I usually pull the connectors and squeeze the ends to make a tighter connection.

don't know where the water pump housing came from but on my big blocks the boss that the bracket bolts to appears to be too short. I would try some bushings and for the belt try one a half inch longer.

I use Gunk engine cleaner on the engine and K member and 409 on the engine compartment painted surfaces. Then I use a garden hose to wash it away.
