Has anyone modified the reverse light lenses on a 72-74?

The super white (5000K) LED's are better than the OE bulbs. None are great for any kind of illumination though.

    Engine idle not working

Many years ago I was racing a camaro and when I floored the pedal I heard a "kapow" from the engine and it died. Towed it to the base auto hobby shop and found the nylon timing gear had sheared. Pump screen and pan was full of nylon. Definitely the Achilles heel of our OE style classic engines!

    Yes sir, likely so

Low Torque from 440BB and troubleshooting/solutions

Give us the current idle timing and max timing shown on your timing light. Running a compression test is also a good idea. The 3.23 gears should be plenty for street/highway driving. Also, you might want to check the kickdown linkage to ensure the trans is shifting at the proper time. I install...

    Help with low oil pressure

Rick, I am using a roller cam / roller rockers with a mellonized distributor drive shaft on my RB 512 stroker from 440 Source. Think I got the shaft from Hughes. They said not to use HV pumps because it causes too much load on the shaft. I have the black spring in a stock style pump. Hot...

73 Cuda fuel sender return port

In the picture with the fuel filter; I always thought the return nipple was pointed up so vapor could easily escape. Maybe it does not matter...

    Newbie question

Several things could cause that. Idle speed too high. Engine timing is off. Engine valves and pistons have deposits that cause a hot spot. Pull a couple of plugs and look at their condition. That will tell a lot. Definitely use higher octane fuel if you can get it in CA. Until you get this...

    Help with low oil pressure

Exactly. The shop I use is always really busy so thinking they just quickly built it and out the door. It takes a little longer to use plastigauge for bearing clearance but I doubt it was done. I know Mopar Joe said one time he sent back bearings in a stroker kit because they did not provide the...

    Help with low oil pressure

It is weird to have to tell a seasoned shop "how to build", but they often have younger inexperienced guys doing much of the work now. In my case, I trusted the local builder to assemble my stroker. They did just that, assemble. My bearing clearance must be quite large due to the low oil...

    Help with low oil pressure

Yes, 20 hot idle. I'd be concerned about running 40 straight weight oil since it does take awhile to flow when its cold. You don't want to delay getting lube to the engine. The 15w/40 works for me but you could also use 20w/50 if you're really concerned. At least the 15 I use or the 20 would...

    Help with low oil pressure

My builder said to use 10w/30 but both the idle and higher RPM pressure was too low for me. I moved up to GP-1 15w/40 and that brought the idle pressure up to around 20 and the highway pressure to about 50. I also changed the pressure spring to the black hemi at the same time. Still using the...

    Nittos and 17"

I agree I *should* be able. The guy who restored the car put on new rear fenders. The inside of the fenders rubs the tires so I had to roll them a little to clear the 245's.

    Nittos and 17"

I run the Nitto 555's on my 72 with 17x8 rear wheels. They have much better traction than the tires that were on there. I can only fit 245's on the back so am limited on width. I really could use a lot more meat on the back as traction is a real challenge in my Challenger!!!

    Header choice

Reasonable pricing on quality headers is what you want to spend. I've used the Dougs D453 with great success and TTI also has a set that would work for you. Really depends on if you want them ceramic coated or just plain. The plain ones come black but it is only shipping paint that will quickly...
