    the caps are not made out of the same grade of material as the block. and maybe material is the wrong thing to type different grade of material is true but this has nothing to do with his problem. cap size maybe true dont know for sure none the less weaker.

    just a few guesses... idle circuit to lean so when the choke is on it runs but when it warms up and choke comes off not enough fuel. idle set too low and when the choke is on the high idle cam idle up enough and when it warms up the cam rotates to the low curb idle and its not set high enough so...

    good place to start also if you have future problems check the ballast resister and the connectors on the ballast get corroded also but i think you may have it

    one common problem you might have is the mech advance in the dist is starting to advance right at your idle speed and big cams like high initial timing so when it idles up its idling to high to let the timing back if you load it slightly and bring the idle down the advance goes away and runs...
