Here are a few random build specifications I took some pictures of. I have used this source as a guideline for many aspects of my project(s). It covers things like the exact number of Welds on a particular Body Panel, correct Stripe placement, Brazing & Soldering specs, Sealer specs, Tolerance...
Here are a few pictures of the Heater Box. I took pictures of an old unit to show the comparison of how they originally came. The old UN-restored unit in the first picture is NOT the unit in the following photos. It was just used to show some of the details of the Motor Assembly Wiring and...
You're quite welcome. We have to change the Pulleys to make them correct for a 1970. We thought that a nice set from 1973 would work but they are different in design. I want to let everyone know that we are NOT attempting a true OE car as an objective here. While the appearance and processes...
Here are a few photos showing the details of the Engine components. The entire assembly should be installed in the Car within the next week. After that, the Interior will follow and then the small details will complete the vehicle. Stay tuned........
Roger Gibson called this morning with some additional news. He spoke with Larry Saunders who also agreed that Chrysler built 4 Door versions of every production vehicle that was originally manufactured as a 2 Door Car. Larry was the Chassis Manger at the Proving Grounds but said he started as...
I had a 45 minuet conversation with Roger Gibson earlier today and he provided me with an update on his Friend who was the Transmission Director at the Chelsea Chrysler Proving Grounds. His Friend is SONNY BENSON and worked for Chrysler from 1965 into the mid eighties. Roger said he has known...
They are solid steel rods with a tapered tip to fit into the support holes on the K Frame and Transmission Mount. They are solidly welded to the Cart Tubing.
The "correct" one is bolted to the Engine and the entire assembly gets installed sometime next week. I'm organizing the pictures showing how this particular Tail Housing was restored and will post them soon.
Thank you for following along. I guess that someone else is out there still trying to help our cause by keeping the topic alive on other Mopar related Forums. (Linked below)
We have shifted focus for the SEMA venue. The Event Director thought it would be a great idea to enter the car in the...
Here are a few pictures of an Assembly Line Gasket from a Chrysler Plant and a torn off Tab from an original. These Gaskets were also used as an quick reference for the Transmission Assembly part number. The last 3 digits of the part number was stamped on both sides of the Gasket Tab. The...
I have seen originals with the last 3 digits of the Transmission part number on that area of the gasket. It will be the same 3 digit part number that appears on the Broadcast Sheet. I'll go through my photo archives to find an original photo example.
Here are a few of some small parts. The...
The tail shaft posted in earlier pictures is NOT a correct 1970 version. I screwed up and selected a unit that was used on the later 727 Transmissions. I'll post the restoration process for the "new" unit as it is completed.
I'm kind of getting anxious to see the completed vehicle. Just like my other projects, it will never be driven. I'm sure you could drive it from New York to California with no problems whatsoever but it will just be used for display purposes only.
That is how those Tail Shafts looked when they were new. It was not "buffed". The surface was worked to obtain the same look it did when it was originally cast. They were formed with a "green sand cast" finish. It was the same process used to manufacture and cast the Aluminum Alternators...
Here are a few of the Axles w/Bearings pressed into place and the Rear End being setup. The orange Inspection Mark on the Axle Hub and Lug Studs designate the left hand threads/side. The 3 orange Inspection Marks on the Third Member designates a 3:55 Gear ratio. Notice that there is not a...
