Did you guys use a primer under the argent grille paint?
Heminut, when painting, did you mask off the edge of the grille where the chrome trim gets attached? If not, any difficulty getting the trim attached without damaging the new argent paint?
Are you thinking that the car is running hot because the factory gauge is running at 3/4 of the temp range? I wouldn't conclude that you have a problem based on the reading of a 50+ year old factory gauge. Next time you drive it, run it until the gauge hits the 3/4 mark, then pop the hood and...
I have 15x8s on the back of my Cuda, but the backspacing is 4.5 inches. Don't know for sure, but would guess that 15x8s with 3.5 inch backspacing would rub since the wheels would be an inch further out.
Personally, if I was going to replace that I'd use one of these, which is fuse protected to prevent the limiter from failing and frying all of your gauges with a full 12 volts. Don't ask me how I know...:BangHead:

Very nice, such an original and unmolested E-body is a rare find. Congrats and welcome!
Your garage art suggests a former left coast connection???
Yeah, same here. The needles snapping off is pretty common when they start jumping around. In my case, lubing the cable didn't solve the problem, so I had to have the speedo rebuilt.
My guess is that your speedo is on its last legs, but you can remove the cable at trans, chuck it into a drill motor, and test as suggested above by @Katfish to eliminate the gear in transmission variable. Removing, cleaning, and re-lubing cable can also be done. If those two things don't work...
Thanks for the reply. I'll have to dig them out of the bag corner of my storage space to get the part numbers, which I probably won't get around to for at least a few days (or more)...
I have a set of four 14-inch rally wheels (large bolt pattern for E and B body Mopars) with trim rings and center caps (72+ acorn style) taking up storage space and would like to unload them. Is there any market still for 14-inch wheels? They have tires on them that hold air and would be OK...
For procrastinators like me, the price on these has gone up in the last couple of weeks. Get All Parts currently has them listed for $626.
Maybe Heminut's post is driving up demand...
Yup, I blew up the one in my first Barracuda, 71 318/904 car. Had pieces of gear shrapnel sticking out of the rear cover. I replaced it with a junkyard 8-3/4. Finished bolting in the new rear late one night, excited to drive my car to high school again the next day. Took it for a quick trip...
Awesome! Thank you Sir! I've been sitting on the fence about buying one of these for some time now, so am very interested to follow along and see what your thoughts are.
So @RonnieT how do you fit in with this car? Assuming you are not the current owner, as you don't seem like someone that has owned an E-Body for the last 22 years. You just marketing this thing for someone else?
