    Mopar restoration parts

I haven't seen the car, but $3,500 does sound like a good deal for what you described. However, if your goal is to make money, your best bet would probably be to flip this one as is. It's pretty tough to make money on restoring cars these days.

    Mopar restoration parts

My apologies, but this story about long-time Ford and GM guys coming over to the Mopar camp and then bitching about parts prices is so common that it's just funny now... A quick Google search suggests the following production totals for 1973: 175K Mustangs 97K Camaros 33K Challengers 19K...

    Speedometer issues.

Ha! That's the million dollar question. Like many things, you can Google it, spend countless hours in the rabbit hole of online classic car forums and get a million different recommendations on the absolute "right" way or product to do it with. To be honest, it was long enough ago that I...

    Big Block Cooling Help/Opinions

Cutting off seems more like a carb or timing issue than overheating. As @pschlosser said, timing will impact engine temps, although I'd say its more likely to run hot if too retarded. Factory timing specs were intentionally retarded to raise exhaust temps for cleaner emissions during that...

    Big Block Cooling Help/Opinions

I agree that stock 26" radiator with shroud and clutch fan should be adequate for your needs. First thing to do is to actually confirm whether or not you have a cooling problem. If you don't have one already, buy a cheap IR thermometer, then take the car for a drive. After it warms up, pop...

    Speedometer issues.

I experienced a similar issue a few years back. Driving down the road, speedometer was making a growling noise and top 2/3 of the needle broke off. I read a bunch of posts online and did the following: 1. Used a small diameter sewing needle and a few drops of super glue to splint the broken...

    I need help!

@sheetmetaldan If you have power to the inlet terminal of the dimmer switch and do not have power at the center terminal, then the contacts may need to be cleaned or the switch is bad. When the dimmer switch is turned all the way counter-clockwise, past the "bump" or "step" position in the...

    Hello from Minnesota

Start with a fresh battery. For first start, I'd try setting the timing around 10 degrees BTDC on compression with rotor pointed at #1 plug terminal. Unless you have cleaned out the tank, hopefully you are feeding fuel to the carb from clean fuel can. Sounds like fun. Good luck with it...

New fuel system not getting delivered to carb

X2, check and see if you have fuel at inlet and outlet sides of the fuel pump. Seems unlikely, but many years ago I replaced a mechanical fuel pump on my Cuda and couldn't get the car to run. We eventually traced things back to the new (probably rebuilt) mechanical fuel pump and figured out...

New fuel system not getting delivered to carb

Stock system with a mechanical pump, or what are we dealing with here?

    Timing issues.

I've seen recommendations for full centrifugal advance coming in at 2,000 to 2,500 rpm; however, your setup is consistent with Chrysler's own super tuning recommendations from 1969, all in (34 to 38 degrees) by 1,200 to 1,500 rpm. See Master Technicians Service Conference Reference Book 69-12...

    Timing issues.

Hard to know what you mean by "slightest pressure on the throttle" but as designed (with distributor advance mechanism connected to ported vacuum) there should be zero vacuum advance at idle. As soon as throttle blades begin to open, the ported vacuum connection will start to see manifold...

Sorry, clockwise. Good catch! Dumbass me contradicting myself in the same post. I went back and fixed it.

    Vacuum advance question / issue

Keep in mind that factory timing specs from that time were also based on emissions controls and in some cases were based on Chrysler's use of distributors with advance retard mechanisms. You might use them as a starting point, but I'd never use them as the basis for how my car is tuned now...

    TDC with oil pan off

Correct, no argument there. As I previously stated, the method you previously posted is the accurate way to determine TDC. But still helpful to know if #1 is in compression or exhaust stroke when trying to set up dizzy for a first start.
