    T/A HEADS AND ROCKERS!?

The value in the t/a head is you can port them way beyond the stock head, that’s why the pushrod is moved. I just purchased a new set of rollers for my engine, it came without, cost $1400 and it’s a nice product. Just couldn’t locate stock pieces and the aftermarket is a better piece than the...

    T/A HEADS AND ROCKERS!?

Here is a photo of the original motor from my recently acquired AAR. If you look close you can see numbers matching what you have. Looks like a t/a head to me as I’ve never seen anything else with the offset pushrod provisions. Congrats

Looking for motor advice - 6.1 hemi or eagle 5.7

I would note the 6.1 is the base for the blown motors, assume this means it has stronger inner components.

    Hello from Vienna/Austria: 1970 Barracuda

I believe that the technical knowledge we now posses with regard to seating, thanks largely to nascar👍, is hard to retrofit in this circumstance. Unfortunately my 1970 also has seats that you sit ON, not in like the new cars. My recommendation is keep, your foot on the throttle and that produces...

Shifter handle options for 833 1972 challenger

Just a note that for performance shifting nothing beats the pistol grip for that second to third shift on a h pattern shifter, imho. 😊

    Question about spline count

I think Vaanth put it as clear as possible, it appears he has more information on this than I do so I bow to his expertise and offer my thanks to him for the information.

    Question about spline count

23 spline was small block application, 19 spline was big block as it was perceived to be a stronger design for th e larger amount of torque produced. Hope that helps

    AAR 3x2 setup question

The advantage offered by t/a heads only is available if 5th are ported. If you look at your 340 intake port there is a ridge on the pushrod side that provides clearance for the pushrod. The t/a head moves the pushrod so the ridge can be removed.

    AAR 3x2 setup question

The offset pushrod allows the ridge that exists top to bottom on the 340 intake port, allowing pushrod to operate, to be removed as it isn’t needed. The factory casting was the same, the machining of the pushrod offset to allow porting is the difference. Offset rocker arms are needed to...

    340 Rocker question

They certainly look like stock 273 lifters with aftermarket adjusters, a must add for 340’s if you were going solid lifters back in the day. T/A rockers for exhaust are almost identical but not quite.

    AAR project

Word from my machinist is couple weeks to completion. I need to ask for thoughts on six pac carberator controls. The factory six pac runs the front and rear totally on vacuum. The set up I received is totally manual with the outboards set to hit full open when the primary is same. I have the...

    Guss - 1970 Challenger

Beautiful car, thanks for sharing. Also, it is my understanding that the RV engines were a good platform to build from, tho I would lose the 2 barrel. Good luck

    Value of our cars

Bought my t/a in 1975 for $1,050. Of course it was a bit beat up and original motor was gone, but I kept it anyway.

Windage Tray on 340 - Use the original or go with new Milodon windage tray with new larger Milodon oil pan? Is there a difference?

Mancini makes a replica of the original which faithfully replicates the original design for the windage, fyi.
